Swipe File For Copywriting Inspiration
As a copywriter, I understand that sometimes we encounter writer’s block and are just unable to think of what to write.
This is where a swipe file will come in handy. A swipe file is a collection of tested and proven advertising and sales letters. Keeping a swipe file is a common practice used by copywriters to ignite their creative spark.
Here are some swipe file resources:
And here’s a bonus resource if you need email copywriting inspiration: Really Good Emails.

Landing Page Design Inspiration
As a copywriter, I work closely with my designer in creating landing pages for our clients’ products and services.
Although I’m only responsible for crafting the landing page copy, there are times when I discuss the layout and design with my designer. Bouncing ideas off your designer will help get those creative juices flowing and generate new ideas.
Hence, I do believe that marketers also need to familiarize themselves with design trends.

Return On Investment Calculator
Whether your client spent five hundred dollars or ten thousand dollars on marketing, they’ll want to measure the results of their marketing investment.
With Return On Investment (ROI), you can evaluate a marketing campaign’s performance and impact on profit. You can then determine whether your marketing efforts are actually helping your client. ROI can also help guide you in making data-driven decisions.
ROI can be calculated in different ways depending on your goal and application. There are some ROI formulas that you can use. Or you can simply use an ROI Calculator.

A/B Testing Significance Calculator
Do you run many A/B tests for your client?
There are Campaign Experiment in Google Ads and A/B Test in Facebook Ads which allow you to test different campaign elements and find out what works best.
Likewise, you can also run such experiments to test web pages. Previously, this was done with Content Experiment in Google Analytics. But since this is no longer supported, you can use Experiment in Google Optimize instead.
Do check your current tools to see if you have such feature. For instance, I’m using the Divi WordPress theme from Elegant Themes. This includes Divi Leads which allows me to split test my pages, gain valuable stats and insights and thus, increase conversion rates.
No matter what tool you use, the report will include important metrics and determine which variant performed better. However, if you don’t have such a report, you can consider using this A/B Testing Significance Calculator. Simply enter the number of visitors and conversions and the tool will determine which variant converted better.
Lead Ads Privacy Policy Generator
If you ran Facebook or LinkedIn lead ads before, you’ll know that there’s a field to fill in the privacy policy page. This is mandatory because you’re collecting personal information through these lead ads.
Hence, if your website doesn’t have this privacy policy page, you won’t be able to run lead ads. You will then miss out on a valuable ad format that offers users a seamless experience of filling forms on the various ad channels.
You can quickly create a privacy policy page with the Lead Ads Privacy Policy Generator and revise the terms accordingly.
Here’s an example of a Facebook Lead Ad where a privacy policy is required:
Facebook Ad Library For Competitor Analysis
Discover the ads that your competitors are running on Facebook and Instagram with Facebook Ad Library. You can also get inspiration by analyzing the ads in your industry.
I would recommend that you take note of the following
- Country
- Platform: Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Audience Network
- Objective: Traffic, Lead Generation etc.
- Ad Copy
- Creative: Image, Video etc.
Keyword Ideas for PPC & SEO
Planning to run a Google Search campaign or write a blog post?
Whether your marketing strategy consists of Pay-Per-Click Advertising (PPC) or Search Engine Optimization (SEO), keywords are a vital component. They are the foundation of any successful PPC or SEO campaign.
For PPC, keywords help match your ads with the terms people are searching for. Thus, you need to select high-quality and relevant keywords to reach your target customers.
Likewise for SEO, keywords help describe the content on your web page or blog post. Optimizing for SEO will thus make it possible for people to find your content via search engines.
Here are some tools that you can use to get keyword ideas:
Free Social Media Statistics For Industry Analysis
Find out the leading Facebook Pages, YouTube Channels and Twitter Profiles in your industry. With Socialbakers free social media statistics, you can identify your top competitors and analyze their content.
Furthermore, you can choose to target popular Facebook pages as interests for your Facebook ads.

SEO Analysis
In addition to implementing SEO tactics, you’ll need to assess your site and see whether the tactics work. This SEO audit will provide insights on what worked and what needs improvement.
Moz Link Explorer lets you check the backlink profile and Domain Authority of any site. The tool measures your backlinks, most valuable pages, linking domains and anchor text so you can build high-quality links to better compete and thrive online.
Regular Expression (Regex)
As a marketer, I’m sure you’ve used regular expression to set up Google Analytics goals or Data Studio filter.
Regular expression helps filter the data according to the logic you’ve applied. In fact, I feel that this digital language is more precise than ‘equals to’, ‘begins with’ or ‘contains’.
Here are some resources that you should bookmark:
Supermetrics
Easily pull in all your marketing data with Supermetrics
- PPC
- SEO
- Social and web analytics
The greatest benefit is that you can see all the metrics that matter to you in one place. You won’t have to waste time logging into every platform to look at the metrics. For example, you can see all your Google, Facebook and LinkedIn Ads data in a single Google Sheet or Data Studio with Supermetrics. You can then analyze the data and make data-driven decisions.
Proofreading Tools
Whether you’re writing an email, blog post or landing page, ensure that you have a proofreading tool installed. This proofreading tool will help correct grammar, spelling and punctuation mistakes so that your content is always professional. You can check out ProWritingAid and Grammarly which are both proofreading tools but with different features.
Grammarly is an AI-powered writing tool that also checks your style and tone. You can download it as a Chrome extension, desktop app for Windows or Mac and more.
ProWritingAid fixes style issues and provides in-depth reports. You can check for issues like
- repetitiveness
- sentence length variation
- passive voice
- over-dependence on adverbs
- over-complicated sentence constructions
Email Marketing Software
Email marketing is a valuable marketing channel and brand touchpoint. When someone provides you their email address (or even better, signs up for your newsletter), you’ll have a direct line of communication with that individual. Therefore, email subscribers are your most valuable followers.
It is thus crucial that you have an email marketing software to manage these subscribers. The software will also allow you to send engaging emails and set up automation workflows so that you can nurture contacts and turn more leads into customers.
Here are some email marketing software:
Another tool I would like to recommend is OptinMonster. This lead generation software has a powerful drag and drop builder so you can create visually stunning opt-in forms that are optimized for the highest conversion rates. The exit-intent technology detects users’ mouse behavior and shows them a targeted message as they are leaving and hence, converts abandoning visitors into subscribers.
Do check if your current tools allow you to create compelling opt-in forms and call-to-action buttons. For example, I’m using Elegant Themes Divi for my site. This WordPress theme has a visual drag and drop builder that allows me to easily create beautiful opt-in forms and call-to-action buttons.

Bonus: Out-Of-Office Email Generator
As a marketer who writes persuasive ad copy, I feel that you should extend your copywriting skills to other aspects of your job.
In this case, you could let your personality shine in your out-of-office email.
HubSpot’s Out Of Office Email Generator helps you craft a personalized and playful OOO email. This is a great way to showcase your witty and friendly side on top of your usual professional image.
