1. Go Digital
One of the most obvious and common ways to save the earth is… eliminate paper usage.
Cut down on printing documents that are not essential. Switch to online invoicing. Digitize your records. If you really need to use paper, consider making recycling a habit.
By saving your documents and moving your processes to the cloud, you’re embracing digital transformation and significantly reducing waste.
Unlike physical papers, online documents allow you to access it at any time from anywhere. You can also collaborate easily with your teammates, stakeholders and more. When you make changes, you don’t have to print the document again. Also, you can track changes and see the history of edits for both Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Docs and Sheets.

2. Provide Eco-Friendly Plates, Bowls, Cups & Cutlery
The pantry isn’t just a place for food.
During my day job at the office, the management has a cabinet to store these eco-friendly plates, bowls, cups and cutlery. Employees can use them during lunch or tea break, wash them when they’re done and another person can use them. I think this is a great idea.
By having eco-friendly plates, bowls, cups and cutlery in the office, the company shows how it values environmental sustainability and also promotes a green and sustainable culture.
3. Use Eco-Friendly Lunch Boxes
As the boss, CEO or manager of your organization, you should lead by example and start this good habit of using an eco-friendly lunch box when you’re getting takeouts.
Also, knowing how much you can eat is a good trait too. Wasting food isn’t environmental-friendly so do consider bringing leftover food home for dinner.
4. Turn Off Power Sockets
Remind your employees to turn off the power sockets before they leave the office. This includes switching off the laptop, monitor, air conditioner and any other devices or equipment that you’re not using overnight.
After a while, your employees will probably cultivate this habit of saving energy by turning off devices and equipment. And they won’t need your reminder anymore~

5. Integrate Sustainability Into Your Business
If you see news, tips and best practices on sustainability, you can share them on your company’s social media or group chat so employees can chime in. This might even encourage employees to share sustainable business practices, ideas and initiatives.
You can take this a step further by sponsoring employees to join sustainability courses. From green finance, waste management to reporting, the knowledge and skills they learn will be helpful to your organization.
Do ensure that your company culture is friendly and positive. Communication should be open and transparent. Employees are also helpful to each other. The key is to let every employee know that their feedback is welcomed whether it’s positive, negative or constructive. With open and honest communication in the workplace, your employees will be more open to expressing their thoughts, opinions and ideas freely including how to make the company more sustainable.
