What Is ChatGPT?

According to Wikipedia, ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot. It’s almost like you’re talking to a human where ChatGPT provides detailed responses and articulates answers across many domains of knowledge. However, do note that ChatGPT has limited knowledge of events that occurred after September 2021.

Personally, I feel that it’s a very advanced human-like AI chatbot. I mean if you talk to a chatbot on other websites, you probably noticed that most of them have fixed options and routes. For example, a chatbot typically starts with “How may I help you?” and lists the various products and services that the company offers. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can then chat with the customer service team directly. Honestly, it does its job well.

But ChatGPT takes this a step further. Whatever question you throw at it, it’ll be able to answer you. Of course, it can’t answer questions that are specific to a business but it should be able to answer most generic questions.

The benefits and possibilities of ChatGPT are endless. You can save time and manpower. In fact, it’s like you’re having an additional team member to help solve your problems or brainstorm ideas. Let’s dive in and see how ChatGPT can help you!

1. Establish SMART Goals For Your Business

SMART goal is an acronym that stands for

  • Specific
  • Measurable
  • Attainable
  • Relevant
  • Time-Bound

SMART goals provide a clear framework for setting and achieving objectives. By establishing SMART goals, you’ll drive greater impact. You’ll also be able to quantify how far you’ve come and how far you have left to go against your goal.

Here’s a prompt you can use in ChatGPT: “Create 10 SMART goals for a new café selling coffee, brunch and desserts.” You should then get ideas for your brand’s SMART goals. Do tailor them to your business and ensure that they’re realistic (goals that you can reach based on your current performance). I also think you shouldn’t set too many goals (you might spread your resources too thin). Instead, focus on 3 to 5 SMART goals and work towards them.

2. Create Buyer Personas & Tailor Marketing Efforts To The Right People

Buyer personas are semi-fictional representations of your ideal customers based on data and research. With buyer personas, you can focus your time on qualified prospects, guide product development to suit the needs of your target customers and align all work across your organization (from marketing to sales to service).

ChatGPT can help you define these high-value visitors so you can build your marketing efforts around them. One prompt that you can use is “Create 2 buyer personas for an art and craft supplies store.” The results will be a great place to start. If these buyer personas are relevant (similar to your current customers), you can consider adjusting your marketing strategies and tactics to target them. Or you might even categorize products and services that these buyer personas need together in one section so it’s easier for them to purchase!

3. Do A SWOT Analysis & Understand Overall Business Performance

SWOT Analysis, a strategic planning and strategic management technique, identifies the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of a business. It helps you analyze what the company does best now and to devise a successful strategy for the future.

This is great for your brand or competitive analysis where you use a prompt like “Create SWOT analysis of [company name].”

4. Generate Business Tagline Ideas

When selling to customers, you probably are able to say what’s unique about your products and services and what’s your brand’s mission, vision and values. However, it might be hard to summarize this in a few words for your company’s tagline.

This is where you can rely on ChatGPT for business tagline ideas. A tagline is a catchphrase, usually a few words or one-liner, that summarizes what your brand is all about. A memorable tagline will create a lasting impression on customers.

You simply use a prompt like “List 10 taglines for a store selling embroidery, crochet and knitting supplies.”

5. Write Product/Service Descriptions & Page Copies

Your products and services pages are key pages. Potential customers are likely to read through these pages to see if your products and services solve their problems. Therefore, it is important that you optimize your product and service descriptions.

In addition to writing product and service descriptions, you can also use ChatGPT to craft copies for your home page, about page, contact page etc.

Simply use a prompt like “Write a product description for a wooden oblique calligraphy pen” or “Write an about page copy for a digital marketing agency.”

6. Create FAQ For Your Products & Services Pages

Enhance your product or service page with FAQ. This FAQ section includes a list of common questions people ask about your product and service and your answers to them. It’s a great place to answer burning questions and resolve concerns. A well-written FAQ will also help turn a potential buyer into a customer.

Here’s a prompt to ask ChatGPT: “Generate FAQ for Samsung Galaxy Z Flip with answers.”

But of course, do fact-check and revise the answer for errors. Add more relevant and specific questions if needed. Bear in mind that ChatGPT is merely an assistant to help you.

7. Improve Targeting For Marketing Campaigns

ChatGPT can help you target the right audience for your marketing campaigns. After creating your buyer persona, use a prompt like this: “List some interests, hobbies, preferences and behaviors that the buyer persona will have.”

Next, see if you can find these targeting in Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn ads etc. You can also choose to segment your campaigns and ad sets by buyer persona. Perhaps, you might allocate more budget to Creative Carla than Professional Painter Paul. Also, your creative and copy (and even the product, service or promotion) would differ according to your buyer persona.

8. Craft Email Templates & Canned Responses

A variety of well-crafted email templates and canned responses that can be used in numerous situations can save you dozens of hours.

Imagine that you need to follow up on a prospect, you simply browse through your library and pick the email template that best suits your needs (and of course, changing the recipient’s name and company). Or if a customer asks you a question that requires some digging, you can quickly send a canned response saying that you’ll look into it and reply ASAP.

Just tell ChatGPT the kind of email you need and the content to be included and the AI will help you craft it. Here are some example prompts:

  • Write an email to politely decline a bad-fit sales or partnership
  • Write an email to remind a client about late/overdue payment
  • Write a reply email to a customer’s complaint

9. Craft Pitch Emails & Create Pitch Or Proposal Decks

If you’re a startup with a lean team, you might have limited resources to sell your products and services. Pitching to prospective customers and responding to hundreds of emails are exhausting and tedious.

A pitch deck, as its name suggests, is where you pitch yourself to clients. It’s a brief but informative overview of your business. A proposal deck, on the other hand, is more in-depth where you might include a detailed plan of how you can help your client with your products and services.

ChatGPT can be that extra pair of hands in helping you create a pitch or proposal deck. First, give ChatGPT some details:

  • products and services that you offer
  • how you provide value
  • buyer persona you’re targeting

Next, use a prompt like “Create an outline for a pitch/proposal deck to a potential marketing manager client who has difficulty attributing results to marketing campaigns.”

In addition, you can use ChatGPT to craft a pitch email to send together with your deck. For example, you could ask it to “Craft a pitch email for selling ergonomic office chairs.” This will greatly increase your productivity to sell more and increase your revenue.

10. Write A Job Description To Hire Talents

Planning to hire talents?

Whether you’re a startup or an established organization, all companies need to hire. Job descriptions are crucial because they highlight the tasks and responsibilities, how the job can help him or her grow and what working at your company is like.

ChatGPT can help you write job descriptions that attract people to apply. Use a prompt like “Write a job description for Content Marketing Manager at a university.” Do add more details and finetune the prompt so you hire the right candidate.

Bonus Tip: Tell ChatGPT To Ask You Follow-Up Questions

I strongly recommend that you include this together with the prompts above: “Ask follow-up questions until you have all the information to create this.”

Rather than generic answers, ChatGPT can tailor its answers based on the information you provide. Remember to give specific answers when ChatGPT asks you follow-up questions. This way, ChatGPT’s output will be more tailored and personalized.

Now It’s Your Turn

Don’t just copy and paste ChatGPT’s output. Do read through and see if it aligns with what you need. Edit accordingly if required.
